Book 1 of the Safe Harbor male/male sports romance series. Book 2 is Hiding In Plain Sight. Each can be read as a standalone. Hockey player Jason Monroe lives a double life - star defenseman and soon-to-be Olympian on the ice and closeted gay man outside the rink. A serious relationship is out of the question, and Jason makes do with anonymous sex in barroom bathrooms, not willing to take the chance on coming out as gay in a decidedly macho sport.
Advisor to the US Olympic hockey team Patrick Parker knows a thing or two about being a professional hockey player who's not out. He's fifteen years older than Jason, and when he senses the sexy younger man is interested, he knows he shouldn't give in to the attraction.
The two men can't keep their hands off each other, though, and with each heated encounter it gets harder to hide their relationship. When their world blows up around them, forcing them into the limelight, though, will their love survive or be put on ice?

Cougar romance (can guys be cougars?)....check
Hmm, I did like this book! In the world of hockey, although there is tons of "talk" of acceptance, being gay just isn't something that's comfortable so both Patrick and Jason are very much in the closet.
Jason is twenty-two and going into his second year in the NHL. He's also been chosen for the Olympic team where he finds himself incredibly drawn to Patrick, an advisor on the team who is fifteen years older than Jason. At first, Jason has no clue Patrick is also gay...that's how far in the closet these guys are. A relationship between them is seriously taboo...first, because they're gay, but also because of their places on the Olympic team.
But a relationship does develop....one works in NJ and the other in Philadelphia so they can manage to see each other for a few hours every few weeks throughout the season. I liked how that portion of the story developed. This starts out as a one-time thing...to scratch an itch, but quickly develops into more as their hearts quickly become involved.
I won't post any spoilers, but I LOVED the way the story came to a climax...PERFECTION! I couldn't see how things were going to be tied up in a good way, but Cassandra Carr did it and I truly love the way she ended the story. It was beautiful and romantic. I loved these two guys. Just a fun, beautiful book!

See the Light Safe Harbor Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Cassandra Carr Jason P Hilton CSquared Publishing Books Reviews
Cassandra Carr takes the reader on a journey. I love to get lost in a good book and See the Light did that for me. I liked this book so much I purchased the next book in the series and read it the same day.
What can I say, it was a good story and I liked both the characters but I felt as if I was reaching for something and didn't quite get there. I can't explain it really except to say when I got to the end of the chapter I was startled because I wasn't expecting it. Maybe there will be another book?
Touches on a sensitive subject in professional sports and the ramifications of coming out and not coming out. The pressures associated with both choices. Both characters are strong minded and willed. Sexy and intriguing.
I enjoyed this book very much.the story was incredibly romantic and it really isn't fair you can't help who you love!these books are really a eye opener for the heterosexual,it really was a wonderful story.worth the time to enjoy.cjs
I just finished this story and I have to say, it moved me to tears. Her characters were so real to me that I couldn't help but become invested in their story and be moved by the pain and fear they felt at having their love discovered. And then, after watching them fall in love and seeing them try to hide it from the world and rooting for them through the entire book, Ms. Carr didn't disappoint with the ending. I think it's safe to say this has to be one of my favorite endings of all time )
So two hunky hockey players who are unbelievably attracted to each other - I mean you can cut the sexual tension with a knife - and add in the fact that one is 15 years older and a coach and you have a recipe for a hot read! See the Light is a panty melting yet lovely story of how these two men, neither of whom are completely out of the closet, try to have a relationship in the very macho world of professional hockey. This is a fast read with great character development and a touching story. This is the second hockey-focused book that I've read by Ms. Carr and I will read others!
I love Cassandra Carr's books, so when I saw she had written an MM book, I bought it right away. I was not disappointed!
The two main characters fall in love and overcome obstacles in their professional and private lives in order to be together. Of course, since it is a man and a man, their obstacles are a bit different than a man and a woman would have been. I really felt bad for the characters and the fact that they didn't feel free to love each other out in the open. I was cheering for them to have a happily ever after.
Since I started reading MM books, I have a better understanding of the prejudices that same-sex couples deal with on a daily basis. All the characters in this book want is to be able to be free to love each other. Cassandra does a very good job of setting out the obstacles facing the characters. When all is said and done, love is love, regardless of who is feeling it.
This is a very good first MM book for Cassandra Carr. I would read more if she writes them!
